Millrace was victorious in the 1420m last week making for an impressive maiden win. She is currently listed to race in the Launceston Thousand Guineas (1600m) tonight as she makes a name for herself on the filly’s tilt.
Even with a great win from last weeks race she is facing a pretty intimidating 9 barrier. Fortunately, Millrace will be ridden by Brendon McCoull, who is confident the filly is up to the challenge. Brendon is not the only one showing confidence in tonight’s upcoming race. Chris Crook, Millrace’s co-trainer, has high expectations for tonight’s results with the possibility of bringing home a $30,000 purse.
Millrace will be facing some fierce competition on the track tonight in the form of Gee Gees Top Notch. This filly has won three of the six starts she appeared in this season. Even with some impressive horses in the race it seems Leon Wells, Gee Gees Top Notch’s trainer, is very optimistic going in to tonight’s 1600m.
There are several other big names going into tonight’s race. Teriki, who was trained by Barry Campbell is also a big contender for the purse. Lyndspur, who was trained by Adam Trinder, and who also had a maiden win over 1600m in Hobart just a couple of weeks ago will be on the field.
Other horses to watch include Admiral and Gee Gees Doublejay. They should both be making some impressive runs for the night.
Regardless of who you’re watching or expecting to perform tonight there is certainly going to be some excitement in this years Launceston Thousand Guineas.
