One of the most anticipated fights is set to start off the new year between Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit on the 2nd of January, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada at UFC 195. Robbie Lawler is the current welterweight champion of the world who took the title by split decision from Johny Hendricks in UFC 171. He later beat Johny Hendricks again in a rematch during UFC 181. He is considered one of the most deadly strikers in the MMA and has an incredible takedown defense from those who perform best when grappling. Lawler has been in professional MMA for over 13 years and held the middleweight title for the Elite XC in 2007 and 2008. He didn’t truly start to shine in the UFC until his return to the organization in 2013. With a record of 26-10-0 Lawler has experienced ups and downs in his career but ultimately he has reached champion status in the UFC and has held onto his title against some of the best fighters in the ring.
Carlos Condit is a champion in his own right. He has held the interim UFC welterweight champion title as well as the WEC welterweight champion title. Carlos has a strong 30-8-0 record, winning 7 of his last 10 fights. 27 of his 30 wins have been by submission or TKO/KO. He has held his own against some of the best fighters in the world and has definitely earned another opportunity to be the UFC welterweight champion. He is a very balanced fighter between both striking and submissions but he tends to do slightly better grappling. Carlos Condit has also shown impressive endurance in the ring making him a formidable foe when battling in the main event.
